There is big big secret to getting internet traffic.

Write good content.

Get a lot of recognized links to your content.

It is as simple as that.  Everything you do on the web should revolve around those two things.

If you only build good content but you do not get links to it then your content will be lost in the internet wilderness.

80/20
Your beginning plan should be 80% on developing good content and 20% on developing links to “Your Content.” Until you have at least a dozen content articles only focus on building content.

Your Content
My definition of “Your Content” is content you wrote or had written hosted on your domain. I have spent a lot of time in the past building pages on Googlepages. Google is ending the Googlepages free website program and so all the pages I have built and linked to there will be worthless. Build on sites you own.

Search Engines
In the long run the search engines will get better at getting to good original content.  There are a lot of schemes out there to get the search engines to go to poor pages.  These tricks will get less and less effective as time goes on.
