Guaranteed Internet Success-Finding a Niche

The old Nike slogan. Yes this is way too old hat but “Just Do It.”

There are two keys to Internet success.
Build pages and build links.
Then…
Build more pages and build more links.

Once you have over 1000 links and 100 pages built you will start to get some traffic. Magic isn’t necessary, it just takes work. To become a journeyman you need to walk first. To become a master you need to learn the basics.

Picking your Niche
Find a niche you want to work on. Remember this does not need to be the do all and end all niche. You are an apprentice. You will make a lot of mistakes but in time the good decisions you make will overcome your mistakes.

There are a lot of ways to pick your keywords and your niches. You can spend months figuring out the exact mix and match. Don’t do it.

Use the Google Keyword tool
Put in a general word. It will spit out a bunch of keywords with your word in it. Now go to the “columns to display” and add “Estimated Avg CPC.” I will only work on keywords that are over $1.00. I will normally only take on keywords that have over 3000 searches per month. Make a list of 20 of these keywords from 3000 to 20,000 searches per month.

Now put these keywords into a basic Google search one at a time. Look at the results. Here is where you need to be using SEO for Firefox. Download and install SEO for Firefox now, this is the most informative plugin you will find. I have directions on this SEO for Firefox page.

I only show the Google PR, Y! links, Y! page links, Alexa.   I hide all the rest so it doesn’t take long for my search pages to load.

If there are a couple of pages in the top 10 that have less than 20 Yahoo Page links then this keyword is a go for me. If there are a couple of pages in the top 5 that is even better.

Your site does not need to be the prettiest thing you have ever built. Grab a WordPress Theme and learn to use it. We are here to learn, then teach.

Build pages and build links.
Build links directly to the individual pages in your site not just the home page.

It will be a while before you get much traffic.  Don’t sweat it.  Keep working at it and the more links and the more pages eventually you will get your traffic.  The secret to Guaranteed Internet Success is quite simple.  Build pages on keywords and build Links.

Solutions to our Problems

The Government has a great solution to our current problems.  Get in there do as much damage as possible so we have even bigger problems to solve.  Big Government solutions only magnify the problem never solve it.

There is a great quote I heard recently.

“Governments don’t solve problems. only subsidise them.”
President Ronald Reagan

Internet Marketing Computer

What do you need in an internet marketing computer? Not much

I have a couple of requirements.  Backup and multiple screens.

The most important place to spend money is on good internet access and good hosting.

I do not believe that a hot rod computer will increase your sales at all.  I think it is better to have multiple computers that you use that are set up to work on so if you lose a computer to a virus you can still be productive. Two $400 computers running is better than one $1500 computer for building websites.

I have 3 computers that I work on.  I have my website links and my passwords in all of them.  I can easily jump from one to the other and continue with my productivity.  I store all of my unpublished articles on the website they will eventually be published on.  I only use my computers to get to the net.  All my work is done on the net.

I spend as much on Monitors as I do on my computers.

A well Tended Blog

I am a big believer in Blog commenting long term.  The reason is long term it is easy to toss the worthless blog comments  with akismet.  Real comments that come from well tended blogs I believe will become valuable.  The future is easy to predict.  The links that are easily spammed by automation will be.  They will decrease in value.  Anything that is approved by a human editor will increase in value.

A well tended blog does not allow spam comments.

Just like weeding a garden if you get the weeds out what you want (good comments) will grow and blossom.

Build Another Site

I started a couple of websites at the same time on the same subject.  I have a lot of articles on the subjects and I just used some of them and lined them up to post.  I put almost the same work into both sites.  One of the sites seems to have caught on.  It is funny.  I promoted the one that hasn’t done anything a lot at first because I liked the name more. Must Do Comment Linking Rules

There are several things I try to do with my comments.

  • The comment will always be part of the conversation–Relevant.
  • I do not put links in my comments unless the comment is on one of my own blogs and I know it will be approved.
  • Yes I comment on my own sites with other identities.
  • My comment is always targeted at a keyword and to link back to a specific page on my site that is related to that keyword. Read the rest of this entry »

Three Times as Effective

When I am comment linking I usually have 3 of my webpages that I am promoting at the same time.  These will be from different sites that I am currently promoting.  I use a different “identity” on each of these usually. Read the rest of this entry »

What is an RSS Feed

What is an RSS feed?
I don’t know but I know how to use them. I do not know how the microprocessor on my computer works either but I know some of the ways to use my computer.

An RSS feed is basically an update from a blog or a website that is set up to RSS. Any time you create a new page this feed will shoot out to anyone or any site that has the “RSS Feed” on it. Read the rest of this entry »
